The Santa Clara County Office of Education’s new Government Relations team, led by director Amanda Dickey, is shepherding a substantial package of sponsored and co-sponsored bills through the State Legislature, as well as advocating for early learning in the State Budget and keeping track of Federal funding for ECE and education. SCCOE is sponsoring bills on student mental health (SB 508 – Stern), an early learning and care dashboard (AB 568 – Rivas) and special education inclusion (SB 692 – Cortese). In addition, SCCOE is co-sponsoring bills on suspension and expulsion in early learning programs (AB 1361 – Rubio) and to remove the sunset date on the local childcare pilot programs in Alameda and Santa Clara Counties (AB 1294 – Bonta). Fact sheets and infographics on these bills, and more information about the Government Relations department, are available here.
